For the most part, kitchens are going to have very similar elements. Sink, refridgerator, stove, countertops and microwave. Look at some pictures of kitchens and after a while you’ll start to get bored (even if the kitchen is really nice). If you’re looking to spice up the look of your kitchen, the best place to start is by adding a backsplash. There are so many options that it can get a bit overwhelming. Choosing a kitchen backsplash design doesn’t have to be complicated, but we’ve got some pointers to help you out.

Consider Your Style

Backsplashes can do one of two things: add pizzazz or add balance. Take a look at your kitchen, is it neutral or abstract? If you’ve got a lot of neutral colors, adding a colorful backsplash with more vibrant colors. This can really spice up the space and even draw out colors from other parts of the kitchen that might go unnoticed.

If your kitchen is very busy, adding a neutral backsplash to calm your eyes is a great option. Lighter colors with a conservative design can allow the rest of your kitchen to shine.

Consider Your Colors

When choosing colors for your backsplash, take account of what is already present in your kitchen. What color are your countertops? Do you have stainless steel appliances? These are all things that have to be considered. Backsplashes are a great place to introduce and/or highlight secondary colors. For instance, if you have a granite countertop you can take inspiration from some of the less noticeable marbling patterns. Pull these less noticeable colors and add them to your backsplash and you’ll see your countertops come to life.

Consider The Design

If you want to add elaborate designs to certain parts of your backsplash, consider where you spend the most time. You should focus on the area above the stove and above the sink. These are the places where your eyes are drawn, so this is where you should try and add the most detail.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to choosing a kitchen backsplash design. We’d highly recommend contacting a professional design team to help you make the most of your space. You are going to love your space once you’re done.
