Winter is a great time during the year to focus on updating your home and addressing repairs that may have been put off throughout the year. This may seem like it wouldn’t be true with all of the holidays, however the holidays are towards the beginning of this season leaving plenty of time after. Here in Florida, our winters are nowhere near as hectic as they are in the north, so we can get much more accomplished in terms of the weather cooperating. Here are several reasons why winter is a great time of the year to complete those projects.
- Convenient Project Scheduling – Many outside projects will be postponed until the spring has arrived leaving most, if not all, the time for interior work. The list of interior projects that can be completed are endless and contractors having the time to complete this list is more manageable.
- Contractor availability – Since contractors do not have to worry about exterior projects, when they aren’t working an interior project, their availability will be more open. The beginning of winter where you don’t want to tear apart your home can be used to plan and design your project. This is a great time for refining the details before they are concrete.
- Clean Up – There are some homeowners that will wait until spring to remodel because of the concerns about dust, fumes and areas for staging the work. With current technologies and cleaning methods, these problems have become a thing of the past for winter projects
- Permit Approvals – During the winter months, government agencies that handle permits are usually less busy, which allows for a quick way to obtain the necessary permits.
- Outside Projects – Getting a head start with your outdoor projects can also be a plus if the interior is complete. While there are some exterior projects that should wait until spring, there are several that can be completed during winter.
