Let’s face it. Nobody likes a house with an outdated bathroom that looks like something out of the 70’s or 80’s. It may have been in its prime at the time, but times have changed along with the needs of homeowners. Your bathroom isn’t dated, yet you feel it’s time to make some much needed changes. However, the budget for this renovation isn’t going to cover your dream bathroom. Until the time comes for that dream bathroom, there are several ways to improve your bathrooms without breaking the bank.

Bring in some accessories – Find items that can change the look of your bathroom without having to demolish anything. A new shower curtain or rug can make a huge difference.

Paint the walls – If you have fixtures that you love, but don’t work with the rest of the room, change the color of the room to make that complementary effect.

Change the showerhead – In most cases, you can complete this project in less than five minutes with just a wrench. You can also upgrade the standard showerhead to a rain or massage showerhead to improve your shower experience.

Tile smaller areas – Tiling only around the tub and shower, and using drywall for the rest of the room will look great without having to tile the entire bathroom.

Renovate a part of the bathroom – If doing a complete renovation is out of the budget, you can redo just a section of the room. By updating just a part of the bathroom will make a large impact with the feeling of a new bathroom.

Update or replace your mirror – If you plan on keeping your existing mirror, a small change that can make a more glamorous look is by framing the mirror. Mirrors come in many shapes and sizes, which gives you plenty of choices.

Plan, Plan, Plan – As you begin your reno, know what you are doing and when you expect to finish. Jumping head first and changing plans mid-renovation can cost time and money.
