This list can be made up of just one section or the entire home. Go through the list and determine what you would like done in order of importance. After organizing your list, you’ll have to decide on what you are willing and not willing to do. Some of the task on your list can be done yourself, however projects like re-shingling your home should be left to the professionals. This all depends on your level of comfort and your capabilities. There will be times that you will exceed the budget, but the more you plan for the better off you will be. This will also help with having to compromise down the project.

Living Off-Site

Knowing where you will be living may escape the minds of excited renovators until the time comes. Having to have a different location to live at during a renovation will come if you plan on a large scale renovation. Smaller renovations can be worked around, but proper safety must be taken.

When you start the renovation work smarter, not harder. Each renovation will be different, so if it makes since to do little bits at a time, do that. If you plan on taking a portion of a wall down, don’t paint it before its gone. As you work, you’ll find what works for you and your house to complete the renovation you want.
