Porous: Marble countertops are vulnerable to staining agents that will deep deep into the rock. Liquids like win, juice, and oil have a chance of permanantly staining your countertops. Reversing the damage is difficult, so make sure your countertops are sealed well.
High Maintenance: Because of the potential damage done to marble countertops, you need to make sure your countertops are resealed every 12 months if they see a lot of use. Marble must be cleaned immediately to avoid any kind of staining.
Delicate: Marble is vulnerable to scratches and acid. Prolonged exposure to an acid, called etching, will remove the polish or sealant from your marble countertop’s finish. This will make it dull and more vulnerable to being scratched. Marble is much softer and less durable than other stone countertops, like granite.
