Organization is the key to a clutter free home. We all have ways in which we organize, and with this being said there isn’t just one right way to be organized. Organization in your home provides functionality and will make it more appealing. Now don’t confuse organization with cleaning. Your home can be clean as a whistle, but can still be unorganized. This week, we are going to look at common organizing mistakes that lead to disorder.
- The refrigerator doors – This seems like it’s an excellent location for all of those notes and to dos that need to be completed, but this is far from what actually happens and becomes more of an eye sore. Not only does this look horrible, no one takes the time to read them. Most are in and out of the fridge for a quick drink or something to eat. With more people beginning to like the clean stainless steel look in the kitchen, and I can’t help but be one of them, the kitchen looks much neater without all of the clutter.
- Bookshelves – Unless you have a library, there is never a reason that your bookshelf should be completely full of books. It may seem like this is what bookshelves are for, and of course they are, but today we use them for showing books we love and decorative accessories. Having the right amount of books, accessories and not over filling the shelves is the way to keep them organized.
- Laundry – I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t always do this effectively, but when you do laundry and let it sit, sometimes it sits longer than expected and you’ll end up having more work for yourself. Time management is key for keeping laundry organized. The best tip is to completely finish laundry if you start it.
- Don’t wait – Never put organizing off until later, this will become a never ending cycle that you don’t want. Honestly, once you become organized, maintaining it becomes much simpler if you take care of it before it gets out of hand. Most times, all it takes is a few minutes of each day and you’ll be set.
