While we all would love to have someone do our laundry all the time, for most, having to use a washer and dryer themselves is a must. That is one of the rooms in a home that we all want to avoid. Unfortunately, laundry is a chore that has to be completed. Having no clean clothes makes for a smelly time. Fortunately, there are several laundry room updates you can complete so you will have a room that is not only functional, but is a room where you will enjoy doing this chore. You’ll want to give the room or area your personal touch, and know that if you do several or just one of these laundry room updates, your wash days will be easier for you!
Folding Station – I don’t know about everyone, but I know when I’m trying to fold laundry and put it on top of the washer and dryer, there is never enough space. By adding a folding station next to the dryer or over the side by side front loading appliances, will give you plenty of space for all your folding needs.
Make a Landry Station – Repurposing bulky furniture, like an old entertainment center that used to house monster size TVs, is great for a convenient and compact laundry center. Some reconfiguration may be required, but by having a dedicated place for baskets and a clothing rod, makes doing laundry much more enjoyable.
Paint – As with any room, a little bit of paint will go a long way. You can even choose a nice neutral paint color to keep the room simple and clean, and add some artwork. Be decorative in this room, it’s just like the other rooms in your home.
Drying Rack – We all have those clothes that shouldn’t go in a dryer. Having a drying rack in the laundry room is great to have, and there are several ways to get one. Fold up cottage style drying racks are great if space is limited as they can tuck away behind a door. Accordion style drying racks can also be used if space is limited. When not in use, just collapse it back to the wall.
Shelving – Plastic coated wire shelving performs double duty by adding shelving to keep supplies and allows for hanging drip dry items. You can hang any items that would be coming hot out of the dryer. Add more organization to the shelving keeping the supplies in matching baskets.
So whether you do one of these updates or more, know that any of these will make your laundry experience much better!
