Kitchen remodeling tops most of homeowner renovation wish lists. So, as a homeowner, you want to freshen up your kitchen, but you’re not quite ready for the excitement of a complete renovation. Lets face it, not only can it take a lot out of you, it can be costly as well. Here are several suggestions that you can do to your kitchen to make it look fantastic without remodeling. It may not look as great as an entire remodel would look, but it is a great start. Once it functions and works for you, look at it as a temporary fix until you can do that dream renovation you want!

Kitchen Cabinets

When it comes to the kitchen, cabinets are the first on the list of things to change. Most of the time you don’t like the style or color, and you want to just get rid of them. But depending on what you are wanting, there are tons of DIY projects you can do with them to make them the way you want. Take the doors off, then strip and refinish or repaint them. If you want to add depth, add molding to the doors. If either of these ideas don’t tickle your fancy, then remove the doors completely. You can add a wallpaper or paint the inside of the cabinets to make a decorative display.

Lighting

Old or bad lighting can make the best kitchen look blah and dated. This can be an easy fix. Switching out the lights and fixtures is an easy task that can change the look of the entire room. There isn’t any need to spend a small fortune on lighting either; a simple self-stick light can go a long way.

Hardware

The small details matter in a large kitchen. Buying handles, faucets, and drawer pulls that match the rest of the kitchen will help the kitchen’s mood and function. There are many places you can go to find these items. You can go to any home improvement store or try a local thrift store.

Artwork

Art is a nice finishing touch to your newly pre-reno, renovation. Some pieces are relatively cheap and most of the time they can be made by you. This makes your kitchen a little more personalized and adds personality.
