Sizing Your Mirror

Typically when you’re looking for the right size mirror for your bathroom, you should consider proportion and function. If you’re trying to create a balanced look, try to match the mirror to the size of your bathroom vanity. Vanity mirrors shouldn’t be wider than the vanity itself, with few exceptions. For height, the mirror needs to only reach about a foot above and below the eye line of the people using it, but the more height you can achieve, the better.

Single vs. Multiple

If your bathroom has a wide vanity you have the option of using multiple mirrors or one mirror wide enough to fit across the vanity.

Wall-to-Wall Mirrors

Another option is to ignore the size of your vanity completely and go for a wall-to-wall mirror. This will help make a small bathroom feel twice as big.

Framed vs. Frameless

Frameless mirrors tend to be less expensive but still stylish. They’re more modern and help to achieve a more clean, airy look. Frameless mirrors work best in a contemporary, modern, or minimalist bathroom. Framed mirrors have more of an ornate look, but can easily match the style of your bathroom with the right frame.

Inset Mirrors

Inset mirrors offer the modern look of a frameless mirror but with the same polish of a framed mirror. By insetting your mirror into the surrounding material of your bathroom, such as the wall tile, it gives the whole wall a finished look with a minimalist twitch.

Round Mirrors

A great way to bring in a more soft look to your bathroom is to add a round mirror. A round mirror hanging by a strap or chain gives the bathroom a more nonchalant vibe.

Medicine Cabinets

Medicine cabinets offer extra storage space while being attractive and functional. To keep your medicine cabinet from sticking out, it’s best to inset it into the wall.
