It’s safe to say that all houses are not created equal, in terms of size at least. With that being said, just because the size of one home is different than another, doesn’t mean that the houses can’t be designed with similar attributes. The same principle can be applied to the house’s bathroom. We have seen houses that can fit one person, comfortably, and several in a tub of another. No matter the size of the bathroom, you can easily have a design that not only functions, but is appealing too!
At first thought smaller bathrooms may feel like a hassle. You don’t have the space you want and everything feels so cramped. The good news is that this problem can be solved, and the best news is that because it is a smaller bathroom, you can really go all out to purchase top of the line materials and finishes! You wonder how this mess of the bathroom can be the luxurious bathroom you envision. Start with changing the floor plan, if needed, to make use of all of the space. Places where the space may seem useless could be used for storage or an added feature.
In a small bathroom with a tub/shower combination, you can add high end tile, an oversized shower head, and just a few accessories to turn the small bathroom into a retreat. It is also best to keep the countertops as decluttered as possible. To accomplish this, you can use the vanity for storage or a space where floating shelves can be used. Adding more space can be as easy as adding a pocket door instead of the standard swing door.
Making a small bathroom seem larger, or to get more room, can be achieved by choosing compact fixtures. This doesn’t mean cheap or unimpressive fixtures, but ones that function just as well that are made for smaller bathrooms.
