We have talked briefly about your options for kitchen appliances. Today we’re going to be going in more detail about cooktops you will use to prepare your amazing dishes! But before we dive into the types of equipment available, there are a few rules you’ll want to keep in mind when you begin to search for your dream appliances. You need to know your needs, consider variety, and know your budget. Variety is the spice of life, and when it comes to kitchen equipment, there is no difference

Gas stoves are known for their ability to maintain a constant temperature while distributing the heat evenly. An open flame surrounds the bottom of your cookware and can be measured in BTUs that can range from 5,000 BTUs (small burner) to 17,000 BTUs (large burner). In some states, it is very economical to use gas versus electricity. Since gas stoves don’t require electricity, in the event of a power outage, you will still be able to cook.

Electric smoothtop or glass-ceramic cooktops are a great choice if you’re wanting an appliance that is sleek and easy to clean. These types of stoves generally have a four burner layout and indicators that show when one of the burners are hot. You have to be weary what you cook with, because this stovetop can easily scratch.

Induction cooktops are one of the priciest cooktops available, but for a great reason. With induction cooking, the cooking piece (pots or pans) becomes the heat source. This is accomplished by the magnetic field that is created by the cooktop. Cooking with induction will only heat the area in direct contact with the cookware and will, do so very quickly, all while allowing precise temperature control. Being the most efficient, in terms of cost of operating, is another great plus of an induction cooktop.
