Think back throughout your life. Things change from year to year. Whether it be the fashion, cars, television or even the way we communicate, things are different now than they used to be. On the contrary, many things stay the same. This is also the case with interior design. Year in and year out, styles and trends come and go, while others stay. We’ve got a list of 2017 kitchen design trends that will give you an idea of what is “in” this year.
Tuxedo Cabinets
Yes, that’s right, tuxedo cabinets. Think of a tux: black and white. Light and dark. Extreme contrast. One of the most popular trends is pairing dark cabinets with light cabinets. Having all dark cabinets near the floor and all light cabinets toward the ceiling creates a truly brilliant contrast. This trend provides your kitchen with a striking aesthetic which is extremely modern and hip. These cabinets don’t have to be just black and white, as this can be too drastic for some people’s taste. You can use a dark blue with a light tan or grey for a more subtle form of this trend.
Wood Paneling
Remember when we asked you to think back to previous points in your life? One of the things you might have remembered is wood paneling. Very cheap, manufactured looking wood paneling. Well, guess what? Wood paneling is in vogue again, only now it’s referred to as shiplap. However, this isn’t the paneling you remember. Today’s shiplap is most common in white and it provides an amazing backdrop for a kitchen. The lines create a wonderful bridge from the top of the kitchen to the bottom. If you love clean but rustic aesthetics, shiplap is a great option for you.
These are just a few of the 2017 kitchen design trends that are sweeping the nation. Just because something isn’t popular now doesn’t mean it doesn’t look great or fit what you’re looking for. However, if you like to stay up-to-date, these are a few of the hot trends in design.
